I wish /tv/ would have a greater appreciation for the show for what it is. Pike is cool, chapel his hot, they even got mommy Rebecca. I think it's cool that they're exploring more of Spock being both Vulcan and human.

ah, let me see...without spoiling. His brother plays a bigger role, but Kirk himself is assigned to the Farragut as First Officer. At this point, he is...'aware' of Spock and the others, and it's setting up for what we can expect (or have already seen) in TOS, what with his relationships with Uhura, Scotty, and of course Spock himself. He still has much to learn, but you'll see how he definitely 'grows into' his Kirkness.
