I think you've mistaken the common use of the term versus the medical definitions. It's a disorder, which is defined strictly as being a set of symptoms with have a detrimental impact on day-to-day life.
If it was a trade-off it wouldn't be a disorder. There are no bright sides to true schizophrenic disorder to my knowledge. It's mostly a thinking disorder which interrupts normal function of the conscious mind and focus ruining the ability to assess and interpret stimuli.
All the advantages are ordinary day-to-day functionality of a high IQ person. People often refer to "schizo" any loose abstraction of first or higher orders made by persons of higher intelligence. This is often a means for the confused to belittle and dismiss what they don't understand, in defense of their egotistical need to avoid demonstrating weakness. This is often a symptom of an extremely insecure narcissistic personality. Ordinary people will tend to attempt to understand or express "I do not understand." willingly.
