I'm American. Not sure where it came from, but since I was young I've always liked Australian culture and wanted to visit. Interesting history, varied landscape, and a very dry and sarcastic way of life. Sydney next year would be my first trip abroad other than Canada and Mexico, and I'm pretty excited. I keep to myself when I travel but I've been told I'll probably get some shit for being American regardless.

The golden age was probably 20-30 years ago, only Asians foreigners here. Now we are closer to Canada or the UK, Indians, Africans, South Americans being shipped here by the powers that be. Under Australian law there was supposed to be a mandatory amount of Australian programming on TV, so we had our own little celebrities, and cultural shows and in-jokes. In the early 2000's those laws were removed and the American shows all came in replacing everything. American culture came in so now dressing up as a black person was offensive, the american woke stuff started creeping in. Before, Asians were the primary minority here. Biggest Chinatown in the southern Hemisphere, no one really had any problems with them unless they were some guy from the Vietnam war or WW2. The centre of the city could sometimes look like singapore with all the Asians and Arcades around. I heard from other guys female asian students used this time to try out white guys while they were away from home.

We have multiple suburb conclaves starting to appear. Go too far out and it's like you are in India, traditional outfits and Indian shops everywhere. Mother with 4 kids following behind with a decorative shawl on. At least the Asian enclaves were fun. Arcades, Karaoke, different Asian foods, anime shops.

To be honest that's part of what drew me to like Australia. I visit the Grand Canyon pretty frequently and there's always australian tourists around who I'd joke with. I'm the same way with a lot of people, especially those I'm close with, but in America you have to be careful because I'd say the majority of people don't really understand that form of sarcasm/teasing. As long as it's "haha you american cunt" and not an actual visceral hatred of Americans then I think I'll get along with aussies fine

You can go from joking about someones face (probably after they've said something about your mother while looking at a hole of some sort) one moment to them coming over with drinks to help you put up a shed that afternoon and staying for dinner. Even between races, you can make racist jokes about someone and they will come back with something just as racist about you being white or whatever.

Brothels are everywhere in Australian cities and large towns. They advertise openly on the internet and in newspaper classifieds. Brothels must be licensed by local council, unlicensed brothels and street prostitution are illegal. Lots of Asian massage places that are essentially unlicensed brothels though. Prostitution was decriminalised in NSW in the mid-90s and the rest of Australia gradually followed suit. Some states have different laws though, e.g. I 'm pretty sure South Australia allows independent escorts to operate but they don't allow brothels. Luckily I live in Sydney where I have choice of independent escorts, brothels and AMPs. The golden age of mongering/punting in Sydney was 1999 to 2009. Those years were great, so much choice, and great prices and many gems to be found. These days the prices are high and the quality is low.

I'm a brit, though I moved here when I was only 1. Parents are English born and bred though so I don't have the typical Aussie accent, more of a mix between the two (basically a more british version of the standard white upper class aussie accent). That said, Australians have always been amenable to me growing up, I'm 18 now so from my pov the younger generation is perfectly nice towards Brits. A lot of immigrants as well everywhere you go (at least in Perth) so being a bit pastier and more posh than the average strayan is far from extraordinary.

Sort of, but maybe a bit greener and more temperate in the populated areas than Arizona. It actually does snow in parts of Australia. Imagine Arizona but with restrictive gun laws and lots of nice beaches but no Walmart or Chick-fil-A. Also the Mexican food here is probably pretty lame compared to what you're used to and instead of lots of Mexicans we have pajeets and East Asians.
