I dont get the veteran glaze. The last "real" war to protect the USA was like the war of 1812 or some shit, everything since has been superfluous but people freak out if you dont drop to your knees and thank a desk jockey for his service. Nigga i paid for your training and will continue to pay for your college and pension, you should be thanking every taxpayer

Also, all their pensions and other social benefits drectly come from Exxon's money. Maybe Saudi Arabia's nat'l oil company as well since they pay big bucks to American politicians to protect that country since the local national military is useless.

The idea is that they're people who were willing to fight and die for the nation. In principal - very admirable. In truth? We're corporate whores with rifles and fatigues in place of pens and suits. But most of us do care. It's the people at the top - the four stars and the heads of state - that keep sending us to die for nothing when we could do so much more.

I recommend "War is a Racket" by Smedley Butler. Guy was a Marine general that earned the Medal of Honor twice. Even a hundred years ago he knew what the score was.
