Went out for brunch which I find to be the overrated meal in existence, but it's an excuse to have a burger in beers in the morning i guess. Buy first couple volumes of csm part 2 since near the store. Hesitate because feel weird buying manga with school girls on cover(didn't realize till at the shelf) at physical store but "fuck it" do it anyway. I think I have grossly exaggerated my feelings of people looking at me weird for many years now, just sort of clicked in my head toda

heya cat! happy caturday! how's it going?
Have to reply to your post from yesterday because it was too interesting still!
>>82832714
>yep because at the time there emerged a belief that a god has to be good
It is interesting what you mentioned, since Greeks kinda had asshole gods, whereas Egyptians had more benevolent ones who cared about people. I think a lot of Greek philosophy, Plato and neo Platonists, came up with ideas of more good natured gods or a god, but Egyptian myths did influence a lot of those cults around the time of Christianity. Mysteries of Isis and cults like that
>I'm not religious at all but I like the history of it how the way people view gods changed
It is pretty interesting from a historical perspective. It's funny because the modern day image of a very human Jesus is also a bit later than all this. Early Christians believed he was fully human and God, but also that he was a bit distant in a way. Whereas the later middle ages with earyl humanism led to the more "human" like depictions of Jesus, whereas old one depict as almost otherworldly and above humans despite being one
I'm done rambling about old religion now! I'm done! I swear it lol

>at least own it.
to be fair, I think most Christians who aren't full of shit would in that instance (I read a lot of old works that talked about this topic) The gnostics were basically just Greek mystery cultists who encountered Christianity as it spread, and interpreted or hijacked it as part of their own system with no actual connection to the larger movement.
>i guess it's one of those episodes a lot of people would like you to forget happened at all.
I find the development really interesting, but I also like history. My favorite Christian writer got condemned as a heretic by the church unfortunately though, but to this day I think some are willing to admit this might have been a bit harsh and mostly because they interpreted him as teaching a sort of universalism(which is probably why I liked him so much)
Now I'm really done with relgion

The road to season 8 was paved with writers giving up and not handing it off to someone else.
There are a lot of small changes that add up overtime from the first few seasons, but it could've been worked around.

it's interesting how a lot of religions are copying each others homework. guess making one from scratch is kinda hard and it's more successful if you take concepts people are already familiar with and just dress them a little differently.

>My favorite Christian writer got condemned as a heretic by the church

all good, you can always talk to me about it, i just have a hard time talking about religious myth in a way that doesn't show that i treat them with the same reverence as any other fantasy story with a very peculiar fanbase. btw, ever heard about the albigensian crusade? if not, you might have a good time reading about it.

had a good laugh when i found out that some researchers tried a medieval medical practitioners recipe (with stuff like the gallbladder of an ox, some other animals eyes, garlic and so on) for fun and found out that it actually kills multi-resistant germs. we're missing out on a lot of good ideas just because we put to much emphasis on authority instead of results.

>the people complacent are the ones who are in theory in charge of steering the ship and then rush to throw everyone else off when they realized they didn't pay attention enough
that's the tragedy in all of this. being in charge needs to be reconnected with taking responsibility when shit hits the fan. as much as people give nintendo shit, when something doesn't go as planned, it's the top who bears the brunt of the consequences. a least they did in the past. who knows how it is these days

>it really trippy to find out the reason you kept randomly dying outside the cathedral this whole time
the reveals were great. my favorite were the little aliens in the woods and the hospital. also that the moon in the hunters dream is *in front* of the clouds or the finger of the doll in the real workshop twitching. it's this attention to detail that really made me a fan of fromsofts worlds.

>agreed whole heartedly
i think they would have implemented a similar system in elden ring if these had worked out better, but they didn't so they opted for the small handcrafted dungeons instead.

>Feel like no would be the perfect time on the PC. You might have convinced me. I might get the remaster of 1 on steam.
these games really shine on later playthroughs where you can actually appreciate all the work they put in instead of just panicking every time you see an enemy. i should wishlist them and pick them up on sale, too. especially sekiro. might be fun when i can actually play a video game instead of a dia show.

> so i guess it's better if i don't.
no worries. It's one of those topics people avoid for good reason. I was more so into the historical perspectives being quite interesting and couldn't stop. I'm sort of far removed from most modern interpretations since I have a bad track record with religious people. Even I tried to be into in the past I always got doubted because I wasn't enthusiastic enough or something ridiculous.
>copying each others homework
Even more interesting is how they perceive the copying. Like adopting stories like they discovered things they hadn't know (Romans with the Greek myths) and uncovering secret knowledge like the cults I mentioned.
> what writer are you talking about. though?
>what's it about?
Church scholar from about the year 200 or so named Origen. Wrote a bunch of stuff, but touched on concepts that got interpreted as preaching universal salvation. There's the more modern versions which I don't know much about, but the thing that got the writer I mentioned somewhere talked about redemption of all souls even after those sent to hell being a possibility and he believed the devil had the ability to be redeemed. Of course, this didn't sit well with a lot of people
>ever heard about the albigensian crusade?
not under that specific name, but looking it up have read about these events. All the random side wars that got labeled as crusades. I'm still baffled by people who defend this shit. Still can't go over how the Fourth Crusade had such a strange trajectory and almost doesn't sound real.
>>82843130

eh. not really. just met with friend and went to a store. nothing crazy.

>I haven't and still can't find time for anything
that's ok. i'm sure you'll manage tomorrow.

>woa :o wanan share a pic?
i'll take one before i put on some primer tomorrow.

>you'll figure it out I'm sure
i'm not sure i want to. i tinkered with it for more than an hour and so far i absolutely hate it. i think i need to play without it.

>I didn't work on that project and unis starting to feel pointless
i think it's this weird dread your brain hits you with to keep you from trying. maybe the feeling will go away if you give it a go? so far what you showed looked promising to me.

>idk what I did really today but at least I'm in bed now
sending you a hug. (>^-^)><(^-^<) i hope the world looks a bit brighter for you tomorrow.

seems like a lot of us are having a hard time rn. sorry you have to deal with intrusive thoughts, fren. what got you sad?

>he does seem like he has a very interesting troupe
he's gathered a lot of characters and there's some really deep lore on all the weird memes that came from his streams. ^^ like he has a second channel called mooler where he uploads most of his live stream vods and the pic for that is a skull on some sort of racing cart. that came to be because some other streamer called him "the guy with the skull on wheels as a profile pic" (it's just a guy in gas mask) and he found that so funny that he made it the pic for his second channel, but that was years ago and who knows that at this point.

honestly, i don't feel like explaining much of what i've done this past few days. the only thing i can say is that i've had the worst streak of bad luck in my life. everything that could go wrong, did. i'm exhausted. i just want this all to end. i hate this existence and every single fucking thing it's throwing right at my face. i'm not religious at all, but at this point it feels like the only thing i can do to hope to make it any better is a desperate prayer.
