Just take away any ability for the ASI to harm humans. If the ASI is kept only on servers that are airgapped and have no connection to the outside world, why wouldn't we be able to contain it?

Why do we keep cats and dogs around as pets? They're amusing to us, like humans would be amusing to a super intelligence. At the very least AI wouldn't wipe out humans entirely, but we might get relegated to a pet species with a much lower population.

It's not anthropomorphizing when there's examples other mammals and birds keeping pets around. The only examples we have of intelligence at all is biological so until we see otherwise I assume an ASI's cognition would still function like a super bio-brain.
