Small correction, post-industrial. Industrial society was pretty fucking bad but nowhere near as bad in terms of psychological and existential suffering. You'd work long hours and die from an illness (that could be prevented today) but had a community, loving wife and family. Now you get nothing, can't afford a house, women don't want you, and you'll die eventually anyway.

Noise pollution is a significant issue and, I believe, a huge contributing factor to lower quality of life. Not lawnmowers specifically, but it's a good example. Personally, I think I'm genuinely losing sanity over the deafening sounds of trucks and construction every day coupled with the constant background noise of engines.

Well I don't think I can. In the long run, nobody can, but even privately and for now, I would need a good amount of money to exit it. There is no running away and hiding, here, it's either homelessness or legitimate property ownership. Homelessness will kill me within a year unless I rely on the state's temporary housing and benefits systems, which kinda defeats the point. Property ownership requires me to stay in the system until I've saved up enough to retire early. (Exactly like Ted did, actually, though he had help.) Or do you know another way?
