I've been saying this, it's all iterations of the same thing over and over and over again
No matter what you eat, it's still bread
No matter what type of media you enjoy, it's still the circus

Before the 20th century most of our time was consumed with just surviving. Now we have the luxury in modern society to be bored and only the super rich can keep chasing amusement. It could be a hell of alot worse faggot.

Animals we put in zoos also get depressed if they aren't sufficiently entertained
It's not a moral failing to find captivity unfulfilling, it's biology

Before the 19th century, most of our time was spent on leisure, actually. Only once humans moved away from agriculture and into factories did 9 to 5 work schedules and become normal.

>"Welcome to the Real World" she said to me, condescendingly.
In a way though, you'd want to become more 'stable' after age 25, and that often means being bored out of your mind most of the time. Arthur Schopenhauer said that life is like a constant battle between boredom and pain; the less you have of one, the more you have of the other. This is true, but I'd rather take boredom. I think this is why so many Boomers and Gen-X tend to have crippling nicotine and/or alcohol addictions (among other things).

>Between boredom and pain
What if I fucked up and I'm bored of pain/pained by boredom?

>bored of pain
I don't know about the other part, but this literally happened to me when I was in excruciating pain earlier this year during a tooth extraction that took about 45 mins. After a while, I felt like Vegeta unlocking Ultra Ego.
>yes, hurt me more! Get it out already.
type shit.

What's funny about that picrel is that one "idealism" because I think that's most people's problem with their life beyond just survival struggle. They've been brainwashed by television and movies to expect life to be this exciting adventure drama where they're the main character when it's mostly just boring drudgery. You think your farming ancestors from the 1700s were having an exciting entertaining life? Most people's lives are boring and mundane get used to it.

>You think your farming ancestors from the 1700s were having an exciting entertaining life?
They would have an idealism phase too. Usually it was
>I'm going to go to America and make a name for myself
>I'm going to get on a trading ship and make a name for myself
>I'm going to go out west and make a name for myself
>I'm going to go to war and make a name for myself
Then they would die of scurvy, starvation, infection, or a bullet wound.
