I was ABSOLUTELY a fan. Even as a teen, I read some of the novels, and absolutely loved Shadows of the Empire (the game, especially). I feel Episode 7 had potential, but 8 kind of ruined it (you'd think the middle-film would be the best of the three, as with previous trilogies), and 9 just buried it. I mean really, Finn could've been put to more use--he was originally going to be Force Sensitive, and Rose could've been his love interest, potentially with her discovering the Force and having a pink lightsaber. Rey's accent (a very British one) is the only saving grace to me.

I never liked it but I agree, seeing how it is now is depressing. Woke girl power shit, pointless retcons, a story so convoluted there's really no point in following anymore.

I mean, personally I couldn't really 'get into' the whole Clone Wars bit. I watched Episode 2, but it felt more like C-SPAN with aliens (then again, I was a complete moron as a teen anyway), but it was apparently so well-received that it spawned a cartoon series and even another movie, both based on...well, the Clone Wars. I just couldn't get into it myself; wasn't too crazy about the Prequels with the exception of 3, since a high school friend gave me a ticket to go watch it when it was in theaters. All I remember from 1 is Darth Maul, sand, young Anakin, guy who looks like Obi-Wan but isn't, and Taco Bell.

Star Wars has always been gay and shitty, anyway. George Lucas admits that it is shitty slop, that he didnt care about it and its a cheap, lazy knockoff of the dune series. The characters are retarded, the dialogue is garbage, the worldbuilding is super fucking gay. This series has always been utter garbage.

I feel you and there is another element of people associating all SW fans, who used to be social outcasts, with the Disney Normies.
Disney ruined it through, not only making terrible movies and everything else, but by trying to pivot the fandom away from the nerdy, insolated types... to normie families and make it a mom-friendly franchise.

It was so fake.
These bitches were making fun of SW and it's fans for years, suddenly they're all big fans and love Luke Vader and his Millennial Death Speeder!

It showed how Disney doesn't even understand any market, they just understand "shallowify thing and sell it to girls" that's it. And it ruined the entire franchise forever. And now people associate it with this ruined version, not the fun version we had before.

Here's the thing though. We got a golden age of Star Wars. We got all kinds of games, books, tv shows, right through to the prequels, and a lot of it was peak. Disney buying the franchise can't take that body of work away from the world. Just pretend the sequels were never made and the old canon remains canon.

They don't, it's a dead franchise. The point is not to make money, the point is to take something white guys enjoyed and turn it into black lesbian corporate art just to make them feel worse. It's really that simple. The same thing will happen to warhammer and every other similar franchise over decades, in fact it's already happening. The people who direct these takeovers have infinite resources, money doesn't matter to them.

Unpopular opinion, but a franchise that only has 3 good pieces of content with hyper-vague world building was never a good franchise to begin with. I say this as a Star Wars nerd who clocked hundreds of hours into the SWTOR MMORPG. Star Wars was always bad and George Lucas was an objectively mediocre-talent creative who got insanely lucky because 1970s American normies happened to have an appetite for soft fantasy sci-fi.

I was never autistic enough about Star Wars to get into the sequel films or all the spin off media. I watched the original and prequel trilogy, gained a respect for George Lucas' original vision, and quite frankly they're all I care about. They're what I grew up on and paired with how the messaging resonated with me upon rewatches as I got older, it's all I really will care about. I have no interest in engaging with all the Disney shows that have been coming out.
