Honestly, it was probably the plan from the beginning to only make the show about 20% idol antics or so. Only thing that would have really changed if Kaito was replaced with a female idol is that there would be less Kaito shitposting in /pc/, and they would have been forced to make Tanaka merch since he would be the defacto ikemen then.
