This interaction is a great illustration of the parasites' growing individuality. Girl parasite is cooperative to a fault. She cares a lot about not attacking individuals she sees as part of her group, and seemingly only went along with Kusano because she sees him as a close ally. Kusano meanwhile is the polar opposite, a paranoid fuck who's ready to turn on anyone if he feels they're not on his side anymore or are tarnished in some way. Both of them died because of their unique weaknesses.
