You see this everywhere in Japanese media. AOT had one of the most well written twists in media. It is incredibly apparent how it was deliberately planned to people revisiting the early chapters while not being too predictable to first time readers. After that point, though, it seems like Yams wasn't completely sure where he wanted to take the story. Is it just inherently harder to write good endings in a kishoutenketsu plot structure than in a western three-act one?
