Even while SnK is still discussed within the otaku community today, Dragon Ball wasn’t even being talked about back then. Kids had quickly moved on to new content like Mini 4WD, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and Dragon Quest Monsters. Dragon Ball was completely dead and forgotten until a revival boom in 2003, when the PS2 game was released.
