Bullshit. What you describe is exactly the kind of 2000s rom-com/battle-""harem""/""harem""-comedy etc. with the obligatory beach and onsen episodes that go on teasing endlessly to either end inconclusively or throws away the harem aspect at the last second and settles for one girl winning (meaning it was actually courting all along, not harem) where the girls all fall in love with the loser or at best average protagonist for utterly ridiculous reasons such as "he is kind!"
Compared to that with isekai even in the worst case you can at least explain the attraction of the girls being due to them being gold diggers who are attracted to the protagonist for being rich and/or powerful or are smitten from being saved by him or such, so even at its worst, isekai handle it better since it would always at least have a reason at all for the attraction.
