Visual novels aren't something I have a large interest in so my answer won't be helpful as much as someone with more knowledge however, you shouldn't fully depend on one medium to help you learn Japanese.
Visual novels will be good for immersion and putting your Japanese to use. However this is akin to telling someone who solely replies on anime as their learning method and wonders why they get laughed at when speaking to natives. You should use it in conjunction with something else. As you learn more Japanese you notice what men and what women use more as it's simple pattern recognition. You'll learn why one character sounds like they're from the country, why a character sounds like they're emulating edo Japanese, and common sentences structures between genders. This has a large bearing on which natives you hang out with. When I speak to people who husdandofag (I do this as well) I have a different way of speaking than when I do neutrally or to make friends. So the answer is you can, but you should learn enough to understand how a woman naturally speaks. I'm sure you do it in your daily life when you switch over to formal language to write business emails. You'll be doing this a lot with different formalities in Japanese. Pitch accent will also help you sound like a native. There's a slight difference in pitch accent for 僕, Boku between young boys and older men. Use VNs with other methods for a more well rounded learning. If you're just using VNs +maybe some decks then I recommend picking up irodori https://www.irodori.jpf.go.jp/en/index.html as a book. You can switch over to marugoto after this (or tobira with a brush up)
