Having played a few gacha, I really don't get their appeal over traditional visual novels besides their overwhelmingly being mobage. The stories are boring and poorly told, unless the girls are pushed by the devs or popular they're usually treated as replaceable widgets, the intertwining of gambling and the emotional connection between the player and the characters is sickening, and playing feels like a second job most of the time.
Gacha is otaku culture fully optimized as a consumer product.
