Interesting, the fact that Tougou and Sumi are the same person is pretty much expected knowledge if you watch the WaSuYu adaptation after YuYuYu.
Didn't the LN have images in it? You can hide their connection better through text compared to a visual format like an anime, but at least their similar designs should've given it away.
