This is one series where villains acting arrogant and getting punished for it makes complete sense. As Nyudo, they've gotten used to dominating for hundreds of years without an equal.
It's appropriate that there'd be a period of adjustment before they can accept that they're no longer the big fish in a small pond.
Eventually I expect to see the NEs try to take advantage of the situation like we've seen to a degree already with the AI, Neo humans, Lawless, parasites, and apparently Nyudo, making them even stronger.
