Daiz started a propaganda campaign to try to push for streaming outlets to do hard subs.
https://daiz.moe/crunchyroll-is-destroying-its-subtitles-for-no-good-reason/
His argument is basically
>Crunchyroll's softsubs are getting worse because they're switching from ASS subs to TTML (and doing a retarded thing where they convert ASS-to-TTML-to-ASS for their ASS rendering).
>It might be because softsubs are computationally expensive and cause Netflix and other platforms that Crunchyroll sublicenses to have strict shitty standards for subtitles that don't make sense for anime.
>Therefore we should cancel our Crunchyroll subscriptions and push for them to do hard subs instead of soft subs.
When in reality a switch to hard subs would just lead to worse subtitles across the board and no more easy fansub fixes of corpo subs (where fansubbers grab corpo subs and fix the typography).
