That's the thing, he is a stoic hero to the farmers, the people he helps are the people that will remember him the most.
He also does the quests on minimal pay and fulfils them in a very effective matter, a man like that is a true folk hero and for someone from the literal boonies that's quite remarkable after probably having to wait a long time for anyone to care or notice the problem.
Sure there may be small adventurer parties that start hunting goblins and succeed but no one has the truck record of GS.
