>yet another season 2 fan shitting on season 1 and Special Week
I know many people prefer season 2 and it's great but the only reason the rest of the series even works is because of what season 1 did to establish the setting. When McQueen tearfully promises to race Teio again, we know the dream will come true and not end in a fucking glue factory. The Dream Trophy and the tone set by season 1 is why Uma Musume is such an optimistic show and it would've never worked had it started out with more "serious drama" as season 2. Sure Special Week is less interesting compared to the later protagonists but she's exactly what was needed to make season 1 work, a classical champion that wins at the end. She's an uncomplicated hero that embodies the core uma ethos, cute horse girls racing. Special Week is the soul of Uma Musume.
