In general looking back is always easier, as you know everything didn't end terrible. 70s and 80s most likely have been shit, but looking back it seems nice and much better as no WW3 happen, no nuclear holocaust, you didn't get AIDS from shaking hands and so on. You remove all the negatives and all seems fine.
