What part of you are you trying to believe with? Your mind or your heart? Because God gave you your mind, that's yours. He doesn't want you to entirely give that back to Him. He wants your heart, OP. Because every man has a snake in his heart in need of vanquishing. Let God in, and with your mind, choose to believe. Belief is a choice. God have you free will too. God is love itself, and God loves you. He chooses so. We're in His image after all, we got free will from Him. So it follows we are to do as He does, use our free will to choose to Love Him in return. So just make the choice. It's not hard really. Look at your hand right now and bring it to your attention can you choose to open it? Do that, then choose to close it. Notice how you make a choice easily? So choose to believe in God. Do not worry about understanding or feeling yet, those are fruits of faith that come later, that grow like grapes in a vineyard. That takes time. But first you choose to plant the fruit. So choose to believe.
As for Christ, He is God in the form of man. God became man so that man could become like God. I am sure you know how imperfect and corrupt and wicked and broken we are as humans. We fell, and we are locked in a spiritual war with the eternal enemy, the snake in our heart. Christ is the example God has sent to show us how to survive. The blueprint on who to emulate in this life so that we can safeguard our eternal life.
