I won't bore you with a lecture about how posting pictures of my female friends to a sex-reddit for a bunch of weirdos to circlejerk over wasn't exactly hurt-free for the women.
But let me expand on why I took issue with it. What my friend demonstrated was that they are of poor character. Their sexual proclivities and indulgences online were worryingly late-stage to the point where he was over-involved in online communities that are all about feeding fantasies beyond the threshold I'm interested in supporting. Frankly, I think that it's a sign that he's probably been into far deeper shit - who knows what else he has done elsewhere. He was taking photos of people he was friends with irl, writing lengthy and obsessive fantasies about a girl he loved but couldn't get using creepy irl-adjacent details.
To me it's about conduct and principle. A man that stoops that low. Who acts one way amongst his friends but goes home to little private degenerate wank cave and overconsumes a bunch of material and commits far too much of his time to porn and sex is nobody I can really respect. Fine, all men watch porn online, such is life. But to begin becoming an active contributor, to get involved in sex communities online and all that. For me it's a marker that his real life and inner life are wildly out of sync with eachother and those people are not to be trusted. Dangerously undermined beta types who ain't fulfilling enough in their real lives who go off and drift 100000 miles inside their head to the point of dissociation from their character in real life.
Those guys turn out to be all sorts of weird shit. For me there is a line, if you step beyond it, you aren't for me and I no longer support you. I won't advocate to dismantle or destroy your activities, but I will shun them socially. It's my right. I ain't here to corrupt my mind or keep company with degraded value systems and behaviours.
