Yea, I've eaten some normal puffballs that were about the size of a baseball. I cut them in half to look for anything that looked like a mushroom. Nope just solid white just like my giant ones. I think there are other giant species that only pop up once a couple generations. Giant Puffballs are rare enough and I'll probably never see them here again, but there's another species that showed up here around the mid 1950's that's never been seen before (18thcentury) or since. I was told they were like a giant meadow mushroom with a hint of pink in their flesh that the top of which would easily peel.
