UBI is likely the only way to keep society from crumbling back to the dark ages. If 1% of the population controls 99% of the wealth, as will likely happen if we keep on the current track, it's not hard to see the masses rising up. Sure, perhaps the 1% can keep the 99% at bay with drones, but then who's going to buy the widgets that keep the rich rich?
