Its not exactly rocket science to discover that if you have to put decisions into a political body, if you want it to reflect your values and be able to respond effectively to your problems it shouldn't be located halfway around the world and be recruited from people with no relation to you, and who exist in a separate economic class.
There are systems where you could make this work, but no one is proposing them. The centralization of power in bigger institutions is a naked power grab. Not something to be celebrated.
