I was originally diagnosed with bpd but it got upped to scitzoeffective disorder when I let it go untreated and the symptoms got so bad I was in and out of the psychiatric ward almost weekly.
It is 100% genetics. It can be passed on through birth, and exacerbated through the environment, but it's not something you catch, it's something you inherit.
And before you ask I'm white, and everyone on my dad's side of the family is German. I most certainly inherited it from him because growing up, he was extremely emotionally volatile.
