It uses the most acres of arable land of any food product. Globally it uses 75% of all agricultural land. All of that has to be watered, tilled, plowed, transported, etc.
We could actually let most fields just grow over, or if we absolutely must, build something useful there. I think we should let the shitty soil just be retaken by nature, and use the most fertile lands for human food rather than propping up this extremely destructive meat industry.
