I mean I don't know them, you do and you either know how to do this or don't. Forcing this behavior can make it obvious, especially if the dude has had experience with manipulators before. Most people, when they catch wind of a manipulator put their guard up and gtfo. Some typical examples of manipulation, love bombing, if they're very responsive to your showering of affection and attention they're pretty easy to get wrapped around your finger. Some manipulators play the long game and try to gain the trust of their object of desire and then use that to make them form an emotional attachment, but this can result in you being friendzoned a la 'nice guy' or 'nice girl'. It goes on and on, and I don't think explanations will really help you with this as it's something you either know how to do or don't. Emotionally manipulative people are either born or created very young and their whole perspective on the people around them is much different than a typical person's. All about strategy for them, all a game of finding what to say to get what they want.
