And back then I was comparatively naive so much of it went completely over my head or left me too shocked to react but as the years go by you start to mull these things over and see that this sort of stuff just happens because it can happen.
There are written census records from ancient egypt where they even allowed siblings to marry. Which is just mindbending now but was apparently normal then. At least until rome banned it.
