the government, in a democracy, is an extension of the will of the people. deregulation (shrinking the government) hands that power to whoever has the money to buy it, many of which aren't even american. trump having to constantly break the law to push through his deregulation, austerity and $5 trillion dollar tax cuts for billionaires just be evidence enough of this power having left government since Reagan.
