The 60s were the beginning of the decline, but it was still a lot nicer than it is today. I was there here and there in the 80s and 90s and it wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I don't think it was until maybe the early 2000s that you got swarmed at the gas pump because all the groids were getting high on huffing gas. They also had this kind of short-lived rebirth when all the San Franciscans moved in around that same time.
