That's really the problem. They've hyped Salem's immortalty so much that they've basically written themselves into a corner where either Ruby somehow talk no jutsu's Salem into thinking the only person who ever loved her dying tragically after getting together was somehow a good thing, or they come up with some Deus Ex bullshit to kill her despite her immortality.
