They already said that the plot is Finn dying due to some illness he got from the injuries after he fought that monster last season and Huntress Wizard went looking for a cure on Fionna's world
they actually had a storyboard setting up this at the end of last season but they cut it from the final version, that's how little they care about Finn I guess
