The character barely benefited with much of the show considering she's barely appears and they underutilized and relegated her to only when Cricket is the main focus of each episode.
So getting rid of her would not change much with much of the show.

Now that I agree, I blamed the writers for ruining her characterization and went nowhere on trying to achieve more with Gloria making a new direct approach to further her growth.
