The thing is just that Massa very much is a "for the Dutch, by the Dutch" kinda guy due to how much or media caters to Dutch culture and stuff. It's how it is here.
Also, we have 17 million people here and our country has had brought out quite some good animators like Paul Driessen and Michael Dudok de Wit and we even won some Oscars for Best Animated Short Film. But we're also a country that relies on international co-production as we are indeed too small. There's a reason why the best Dutch animators decide to move to France or Canada - being a largemouth bass in a kiddie pool isn't impressive.
