We've all seen it, that newspaper clip of boomers getting mad at TMNT for not being like Dennis the Menace or the Flintstones.
No one likes to talk about it but pretty much all of old Hollywood was like this. When movies were getting darker in the 1960s and 1970s, they all got extremely fucking butthurt whenever something changed what they saw as the "gold standard" of a given genre including the entire medium of animation and animation was kinda the one fight they really won.
