I consider this comic canon, but Augustus turned full Lucy simp.
It seems the theme is that no matter how shitty, there's a heart of gold in ever jerk, and that in every sweet person there's an ounce of shitty in them. Probably why everybody sees the best in Lucy and the worst in Mike.
