Persona is SMT, just because they're tonally different and Persona is a more successful spinoff than the main series doesn't mean they're not within the same general IP and franchise
It's just that Persona's cosmology is usually portrayed as different than mainline SMT's, like Devil Survivor 2, like Digital Devil Saga, etc.
