On rewatch it does feel like there must be some cut scenes or script or something since it doesn't really do much with the respect angle.
Wolf straight up has a moment where he seems genuinely swayed by the argument but he never really works it out with anyone, it's just he has the counter argument next time it comes up.
Kitty isn't even made aware that his counter argument is proven by the girls betraying her, she's just already defeated by then.
It's like the dotted line of a through line that never got filed in.
