Our main characters are evil but they can't be TOO evil or they will be seen as unlikable.
Its been this way since Invader Zim and Grim Adventures and it only got worse and worse. This is why it progressed into shit like Joker's theatrical movie, Rick and Morty, Helluva Boss, and Hazbin Hotel. Audiences are so indoctrinated into thinking Evil Characters are somehow "role models" but they can't be too sinister. The audience are shit for brains.
