It would actually be funny if very early on in the comic, the characters formed a polyamorous circle and the main conflict is simply years of shear jealousy everyone has for everyone. Just when they thought the solution to jealousy in monogomous love triangles was polyamory, then they're hit with years of "No, he loves you more", "no she doesn't love you at all", rips them apart anyway.
Figured that if Mike took a fourth option in Eternal Flame (Lucy and Sandy sharing him) it would wind up becoming something like that.
