These days it’s probably more people who insist they should keep things like the most popular adaptations ( that they personally like and have nostalgia for )than truly old fans from back in the day. Titans did well with fans back the , so while some people might’ve been upset over making Dick Nightwing, most active readers would consider it a highlight of the comics since it was tied into a major arc.
Meanwhile I see a lot of posters insist Dick should still be Robin because the 03 cartoon was the most popular media he’s been in the last few decades, or something like Lego Batman using Dick
