That's part of the reason. But equally as important is the fact that everything you could possibly get from a single episode can be obtained through a single viewing, as everything that matters is laid out plainly in the open. Case in point - a placeholder NPC that keeps spying on trapped humans: this is a as-of-yet unsolved mystery, but the series keeps beating you over the head with it by showing that guy in almost every episode. There is just no ambiguity to wrap your head around - which might be better suited for most viewers than repeatedly upgrading your sense of the big picture, but for me it means that I can only watch any given episode twice before losing interest in giving them another go, even after months have passed.
