Until recently I didn't think Taeshi genuinely hated Mike and that the catharsis was coming eventually, but his actions in First Degree Burn are so confoundingly retarded that they only make sense if their purpose is to try and justify additional abuse of him. Like if he'd just told Augustus "no" and walked away, or even said "okay" and then stuck to his word and sunk deeper into hating himself, maybe you could hope for someone to finally reach out to him. But nope! Gotta have him take the double-spineless option so that whatever Augustus does to him is valid.
