I disagree, that was one of the dumbest aspects of early BCB. The idea that Augustus was actually so cool and smart that he could do the anime villain thing of talking someone into despair was never interesting, especially given the implausibility of even a dedicated stalker finding out the stuff he knew.

At some point Taeshi started paying lip-service to Augustus being an overdramatic chuuni dork, but she still clearly likes him as a genuine omg-so-cool-and-mysterious character. Kind of like how she pays lip-service to Paulo being an oversensitive jackass, but still clearly thinks of him as cool/likable/desirable, or how she pays lip-service to Mike being "too nice", but still writes him as personally responsible for every problem in the comic.
