The first two Raimi movies handled the death of the villain very well. Norman got his iconic stake of humble tin and drove Harry's character from there, Otto overcame his corruption and refused to die a monster. Then Eddie got a dumb death that was immediately overshadowed by Harry's and it's been downhill from there.
Having a good guy kill the villain is not inherently a bad decision, but too many superhero movies treat it like a forgone conclusion and have really pointless deaths for it. Iron Man 3 causally makes Pepper a murderer and immediately moves on.
