The problem is that Singular Point is both terribly written and paced to make it feel more complicated than it actually is.
Ultimately (heh) Ultima is just the same as every other Goji, he just has a thing going on where he needs red dust to survive and the technobabble is a bit more "thought out" than normal. He also shows up less than Goji usually does.
