I think everyone complaining about the same characters re-appearing needs to consider that this is also a problem of the animation industry failing to produce a significant amount good shows. The output of new IPs in western animation is much smaller than vidya, which is partly why /v/ doesn't really have this problem. There's only 2-4 shows worth talking about each year, and many of them(Primal, Smiling friends, etc.) don't have a large number of female characters.

However /co/ also isn't blameless in this as I feel the board fails to engage with new shows that aren't literally handed to them. The kpop movie and Pantheon were good cartoons that the majority of the board either overlooked or just shits on to be cool. Glitch is making a 2D show and half this board has already decided they hated it before it's even come out.
